Let’s talk primers. Important to all day lasting makeup, vital to those of us with oily skin. I have tried different primers through the years and these two are my favorites. Smashbox has several options for primers to fit different skin types. I will say to be careful if you have oily skin – you do not want a silicone based primer (aka the clear Smashbox one) because your makeup will slide right off your face within 30 minutes.
I really like the Smashbox Photo Finish Light and the Smashbox Photo Finish Dark Spot Correcting (seen above). I love that the Dark Spot Correcting helps with old blemishes and sun spots in addition to providing an oil absorbing primer. Note: You are supposed to apply this before moisturizer then foundation to let the dark spot correction work.
Recently, I started using OC8 Mattifying Gel
Primer because my skin is just so high maintenance and I was still experiencing a lot of oiliness even with the Smashbox Primer. So far I really like OC8, it really keeps the oil at bay and the foundation stays put all day. I highly recommend both of these products. Admittedly, I still touch up with oil absorbing sheets but this has worked wonders for me.

What do you use for primer or to keep the oil at bay? Do share!!

thank you for the review. i did not see much with the smashbox and really have not used any primer that seems to do anything in general. maybe i will give this one a shot.
I’ve heard amazing things about the smash box primer! I’m using Laura mercier oil-free primer and loving that at the mo x
